Statement from Florida State University School Athletics:
Florida State University School Athletics has suspended all athletic related activities including all competition, formal and organized practice, and contract facilities usage until April 4th. The decision was made following consultation with Florida State University, FSUS administration and following CDC recommendations to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19.
Statement from Florida State University School Athletic Director Tyrone McGriff:
“The decision to suspend athletic events has been made to maintain the safety of our student-athletes and school. This decision is aimed to protect from the further spread of COVID-19 and allow the situation to unfold and err on the side of caution.”
Florida High will continue to follow FSU, CDC, state and county health department guidelines, which means suspending events with large gatherings and restricting travel.
What remains important to us is the safety, health and well-being of our students and their families including students committed to our athletic department. For more information please click here https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/workplace-school-and-home-guidance.pdf.
