Florida High Welcomes Renee Dawkins as Head Cheerleading Coach

Florida State University Schools (FSUS) Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Renee Dawkins as the new Head Cheerleading Coach, bringing a familiar face and accomplished leader back to Florida High.
A Class of 2005 Florida High graduate, Coach Dawkins returns to lead the very program that helped shape her athletic career. Following her time at Florida High, she continued her cheerleading journey at Huntingdon College before earning her degree from Saint Leo University in 2010.
Coach Dawkins brings with her an impressive resume and a strong track record of success at both the junior varsity and varsity levels. Most recently, she served as JV Head Cheerleading Coach and Varsity Competition Assistant Coach, where she played an integral role in elevating the program’s competitive success across FCC and FHSAA events.
Under her leadership, the program celebrated significant achievements, including:
  • 2024 JV FCC Regional and State Championships
  • 2024 JV FCC National Runner-Up finish
  • Varsity FCC State Runner-Up (2023 & 2025)
  • FCC National Finalist appearances (2024 & 2025)
  • FHSAA Game Day State Championship Semi-Finalist (2025)
  • Beyond competition, Coach Dawkins is passionate about developing well-rounded student-athletes. She believes cheerleading extends far beyond performance, serving as a platform to build confidence, discipline, and leadership. Her coaching philosophy centers on safety, accountability, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development, both on and off the mat.
    With deep roots in the Florida High community and a commitment to excellence, Coach Dawkins is poised to lead FSUS Cheer into an exciting new era.
